Sea Eagle Razorlite Inflatable Kayak Review

For those who have never seen an inflatable kayak before, the Sea Eagle RazorLite will fool you into thinking it isn’t one at all when you first see it. In fact, its sleek shape and extremely stiff hull are more akin to a hardshell kayak than any other inflatable kayak, while its speed and performance are practically unheard-of in the world of inflatable kayaks.

Construction Quality and Features

  • Material: 1100 Decitex Reinforced

This is the first time that drop stitch technology has been used throughout the three chambers that make up the hull of an inflatable kayak, and it is a first in the world of kayaks. In simpler terms, drop stitch technique simply implies that thousands of high-tensile threads are used to link the top and bottom walls of the chambers together to form a continuous structure. These threads are so strong that they prevent the walls of the chambers from expanding, allowing the chambers to be inflated to pressures far in excess of those normally associated with inflatable kayaks. This allows the chambers to be inflated at pressures far in excess of those normally associated with inflatable kayaks. Another feature that is exclusive to the RazorLite series is the bow and stern moldings, which use Sea Eagle’s proprietary double-concave super-clean entry and exit system. This further enhances the speed and performance of the streamlined hull. As the Razorlite travels at high speed, air is pushed into the twin concavities at the bow of the vessel. In turn, this has the effect of raising the bow, decreasing water resistance, and increasing the maximum speed.

Ease of Transportation and Storage

  • Packed size: 22” x 22” x 12”

A single person can easily carry this model, since it weighs just 28 pounds when packed and packs down to only 22 inches by 22 inches by 12 inches. It is tiny enough to fit into the Sea Eagle backpack and light enough to be carried by one person without problem. This inflatable kayak is also extremely easy to pack up and store when you are not using it as it doesn’t take up too much space.

Accessories

This inflatable kayak comes with a few accessories that further improve the design. The padded seat will keep you comfortable and offer sufficient back support. It also has a few D rings that can be used to secure your gear in place and the included 4-piece paddle will get you anywhere even though it’s quite basic. You also get a high pressure hand pump which usually takes around 7 minutes to inflate the Sea Eagle Razorlite to 10 PSI. A backpack for easy transport and storage is also included with the purchase and you also get a repair kit that you can use to quickly fix something if you need to.

Aesthetics

The kayak is available in only one color and design but you can get it as a single version or a tandem. It’s a white kayak with blue stripe contours and details while the seat and bottom of the kayak are black. The name of the company and kayak are written in blue letters on the side as well.

Type

  • Usage: Calm ocean or fresh waters, flat water touring, calm rivers, lakes and coastal paddling

This inflatable sit-on-top kayak is intended for kayakers of intermediate level or above. It’s also built for adults as it goes quite fast and requires some experience to stay afloat as it’s narrower than other inflatable kayaks. It is best used on slow and calm waters such as rivers, lakes and calm oceans.

Price

  • Price: $949

The Sea Eagle Razorlite Inflatable kayak costs $949. It’s a great option if you already have some experience kayaking and want to get a great inflatable kayak that sets up fast and it’s easy to transport and store.

Summary

This is a high-performance, high-quality inflatable kayak that is designed to be used by experienced kayakers rather than novices in a variety of conditions. While the Sea Eagle Razorlite isn’t intended for whitewater, it is built for speed and performance in other situations. Although this kayak is excellent for more strenuous activities such as training or racing, it is not well suited for more tranquil activities such as fishing or nature observation owing to the nature of the ride.

Overall the Razorlite is an outstanding kayak that should be carefully considered if you know what you’re doing on the water and are seeking for speed and impressive performance.
